Our family has farmed in Tando Allahyar since the 1980s. Across 60 acres, crops, livestock and freshwater ponds bring different demands. There is no single method that suits every part of the farm, so decisions need to fit the land and the season.

Soil and water need regular attention

Crop rotation helps us plan what follows a harvest instead of repeatedly putting the same crop in the same place. Soil care also involves organic matter, sensible nutrient management and time spent checking what the ground needs. Calling a practice traditional is not enough; it has to work in the conditions we have now.

Water needs the same care. Drip lines on suitable plots can help us direct irrigation, but they still need filters, checks and maintenance. Ponds need regular water-quality monitoring. A useful sustainability claim should explain the work behind it and be clear about what is measured and what is still a target.

Selling direct gives customers a way to ask those questions. You can ask where a product came from, when it was harvested or prepared, how it should be stored and whether it can travel well to your city. Those details are more helpful than a promise that every item is the best.
