Netting the first rohu: our fish ponds, three seasons in

By Mehran YusufUpdated 1 min read

Rohu fish farming depends on steady pond care and careful harvest planning. A look at our freshwater fish and what to ask before placing an order.

Much of rohu fish farming happens out of sight. A quiet pond still needs attention to feeding, water quality and the condition of the fish. Harvest day is the visible part of a much longer growing cycle.

At Berke Haddock Farms in Tando Allahyar, our freshwater range includes rohu, thaila and tilapia. These are different fish with different sizes and cooking qualities. If you are buying for a family meal, start with the dish you want to cook and the number of people you need to feed.

The work between harvests

Pond management is a daily job. Oxygen, pH and temperature help the farm team understand what is happening in the water. Stocking fewer fish does not remove the need for those checks, and a pond should never be treated as something that looks after itself.

Harvest planning matters, too. Fish must be handled carefully and kept cold after netting. An early start can help the team avoid the hottest part of the day, but timing alone cannot replace proper handling and a reliable cold chain.

Before you order rohu

We offer fish netted to order. Before paying, confirm the next harvest day, available sizes and delivery options for your city. Also ask whether the quoted weight is before or after cleaning: that detail makes a real difference when comparing a rohu fish price per kilogram.

For cooking, tell us whether you want whole fish or the cuts offered in the current listing. Check the product page for the available options and price. If you are researching fish farming in Pakistan, our longer guide covers pond planning and the questions to take to a local fisheries adviser.
