Dairy & Eggs

Desi eggs and farm dairy, from our own hens and herd

Free-range desi eggs and farmhouse dairy from our own hens and herd in Tando Allahyar, Sindh. Collected daily and delivered fresh across Pakistan.

Our hens range across the fields and eat what a hen is supposed to eat — insects, greens, grain from our own harvest. That diet is the entire reason the yolks are deep orange rather than pale yellow, and it is not something a cage operation can imitate with feed additives alone.

What free-range actually means here

"Free-range" is a label with almost no enforcement in Pakistan, so the word is worth very little on its own. On our farm it means the birds are out on ground during daylight, housed only at night against predators. You are welcome to come and look, which is the only verification that really counts.

Collected daily, never washed for looks

Eggs are collected the same day they are laid and go out unwashed. A freshly laid egg carries a natural bloom on the shell that seals it against bacteria; washing strips it and shortens the egg's life considerably. A slightly imperfect shell is a sign the egg has been left alone.

Dairy from our own herd

Our milk and farmhouse cheese come from animals we keep and feed ourselves, on fodder grown on the same land. Small-batch handling means we can be specific about where any given batch came from — the part of the supply chain that disappears entirely once milk goes into a tanker.

Dairy & Eggs — common questions

How fresh are the eggs?
Collected the same day they are laid, and dispatched within a day or two. Unwashed eggs keep their natural protective bloom, so they last considerably longer than washed supermarket eggs.
Why are the yolks so orange?
Diet. Hens that range and eat insects and greens produce deep orange yolks. Pale yolks generally mean a grain-only caged diet.
Should I refrigerate the eggs?
Unwashed eggs keep well at cool room temperature for a couple of weeks. In Sindh summers we recommend refrigerating them anyway.
